Fixing a HMD Fusion without spending much
Repairable by design: back cover, battery and screen come apart with standard screws. LCD is inexpensive. IP54 splash rating only.
Screen replacement
The HMD Fusion uses a 6.56-inch LCD, which keeps screen replacement one of the least expensive repairs we do. Even a shattered screen is usually a same-day job of under an hour, and the digitizer comes with the panel so touch is restored at the same time.
Water damage
The HMD Fusion carries only an IP54 rating, which means splashes, not immersion. Sink and pool incidents are common on this model. Bring it in without charging it and we clean the board and replace what failed.
How it compares
Among the 2024 Nokia and HMD line the HMD Fusion has a mid-size screen at 6.56 inches. By comparison, the HMD Vibe has an IP52 rating, 1 rear cameras; the HMD Pulse has a 6.65-inch screen, an IP52 rating; the HMD Skyline has a 6.55-inch screen, a pOLED panel, an aluminum frame. Parts are not interchangeable between these models even when the sizes match, so tell us exactly which one you have when you book.
Charging port, cameras and buttons
A charging port that only works at an angle is usually lint, and cleaning it is free. A port that is dead or loose is replaced. Cameras, speakers, microphones and buttons are all modular on the HMD Fusion and are replaced the same day when the part is in stock.
Battery replacement
Phones from 2024 are now at the age where the battery is the most common reason a HMD Fusion comes to the counter. Fast drain, sudden shutdowns in the cold or a screen that is lifting at one edge from a swelling cell all point to the battery. We fit a new cell, reseal the phone and verify charging and battery health before you leave.
Back cover and frame
The back of the HMD Fusion is plastic, which does not shatter, so rear repairs on this model are rare. The camera lens glass is still a separate part and is replaced on its own when it cracks.
Turnaround
We keep screens and batteries for the HMD Fusion in stock at both stores, so most repairs are done while you wait, usually in 30 minutes to an hour. Parts we have to order still land within 3 to 5 business days.
