Repairing a folding phone: the Mate X6
Inner folding panel and hinge are done in house, with the panel imported and ordered. Cover screen is a separate part. IP58 means water resistant but limited dust protection.
Screen replacement
The Mate X6 has a 7.93-inch folding inner display and a separate cover screen, and they are two different repairs at two different prices. Most drops break only the cover glass. A crease that turns into a dead line, a dark patch at the fold or a screen that stops responding on one half means the inner panel. We replace inner panels and service the hinge in house rather than sending them away; those parts are usually ordered, so allow 3 to 5 business days.
Water damage
The Mate X6 is IP58 rated, which protects it when new but not after a drop opens a gap in the seal. After a swim we open it, clean the board and dry it before testing, and after any screen or back repair we fit fresh adhesive so the seal is restored.
Battery replacement
