Repairing older Nintendo game consoles

Joy-Con drift is the most common repair in the store, fixed with replacement or Hall-effect sticks. Switch charging ports fail from cheap docks and are replaced at board level. Screens on the Switch and Lite are inexpensive; the OLED and Switch 2 panels cost more. Switch 2 Joy-Con use magnetic rails that are serviceable. Game card readers and fans are modular.

Models covered

Nintendo Switch 2, Switch OLED, Switch, Switch Lite, Joy-Con and Pro Controller. If yours is not named here, bring it in anyway; if it has a circuit board, we work on it.

What usually fails at this age

Batteries first: anything more than two years old that will not hold a charge, shuts off early or has started to swell needs a new cell. Then hinges, ports and drives, all of which are quick, inexpensive repairs on older game consoles. Screens for the common models are stocked; the rest are ordered.

Turnaround

Same day on stocked parts, 3 to 5 business days when ordered. We check parts availability and give you the price before you commit.

Questions

Older Nintendo console FAQ

Can you fix Joy-Con drift?

Yes, same day, and permanently with Hall-effect sticks.

Switch won’t charge?

Usually the USB-C port or the charging IC. Both are board-level repairs we do in house.

Do you fix the Switch 2?

Yes, screens, ports, sticks and batteries.

Is an older Nintendo console worth repairing?

Often, yes. Parts for older game consoles cost less than for current ones, and a new battery, screen or drive gives most of them years of use. We quote after a free diagnostic and tell you honestly when it is not worth it.

Can you still get parts for an older Nintendo console?

For most models from the last ten years, yes. Common parts are stocked and the rest are ordered within 3 to 5 business days. We check availability before you commit.

Where can I get an older Nintendo console fixed near me?

PhoneFixation has stores at 830 Blue Lakes Blvd. N in Twin Falls, Idaho and 1624 SE Blue Parkway in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, both open seven days a week.

Rather upgrade?

We take working game consoles as trade-ins toward repairs or phones from the shop.
