How Microsoft laptops are repaired
Surface Laptops are sealed machines: the keyboard deck is bonded on older models and the screen is glued, so most repairs start with careful screen removal. Batteries and SSDs are behind the screen; newer models have a removable SSD. Surface Book hinges and the detach mechanism are repairable. Alcantara keyboard decks are replaced whole.

Questions
Surface Laptop 7 repair FAQ
How much does a Surface Laptop 7 repair cost?
We quote after a free diagnostic and before any work starts, because the price depends on the part. Every repair carries a one-year warranty and our low-price guarantee, and we tell you honestly if a repair is not worth it against the value of the laptop.
How long does a Surface Laptop 7 repair take?
Same day when the part is stocked, and 3 to 5 business days when it is ordered. Board-level work and data recovery take longer; we give you the timeline before we start.
Will I lose my data?
No. Screens, batteries, ports, keyboards and most board work leave your data alone. Drive replacements include cloning your old drive when it is readable, and we tell you first if anything would be lost.
